The WTG Local Organizing Committee first meeting was celebrated yesterday at the Palacio de los Deportes Martin Carpena, under the chairmanship of the mayor of Malaga, Francisco De La Torre. This meeting was also attended by the Councillors for Sports, Elisa Pérez de Siles, and Accessibility, Francisca Bazalo; the coordinator of the Committee, Vicente Granados and the famous transplanted sportsman Pablo Ráez, standard-bearer of the Spanish team and image of the games.
In this first meeting, the tasks of the important event has been distributed. The World Transplant Games will be held in Malaga from 25 June to 2 July and are organized by the Malaga Council with the collaboration of the Regional Goverment of Andalusia and Malaga Provincial Council.
The organization wants to reach 3.000 participants in this event, which as many of you know, is held every two years. The last headquarters have been Mar de Plata (Argentina 2015), Durban (South Africa 2013) and Gothenburg (Sweden 2011). The aim of the games is to raise awareness about organ donation. The next edition will take place in Newcastlegateshead in 2019.
